Waist to height ratio

“Forget the scale for a moment. This ratio is the most accurate predictor of your health because it measures the ‘visceral fat’-the dangerous stuff stored around your internal organs. While your weight can fluctuate based on water or muscle, this measurement doesn’t lie. For a healthy foundation, your waist circumference should be less than half of your height. If you’re over that 50% mark, you’re putting unnecessary stress on you heart and joints.

The Goal: 0.50 or Less

Waist /Height = Your Ratio

BMI: The Load Indicator

BMI is the industry standard for measuring your weight against your height. While it doesn’t measure muscle, it tells us how much “load” we are putting on our joints. For those of us over 70, keeping this number in check is a major step toward avoiding surgery.

The Calculation

(Weight/Height/Height) x 703 = BMI

BMR: Your Fuel Engine

Your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is the number of calories your body burns just to stay alive-breathing, circulating blood, and keeping your organs running. Think of it as your “idle speed.” Understanding this number helps you determine exactly how much fuel you need in order to lose weight without “stalling” your metabolism.

The Estimation

Current Weight x 12 = Daily Idle Calories
